---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ECER TECHNOLOGY CONTROL-EMUL8R SOFTWARE Version 1.0.3 BETA, 11th November 2004 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CONTROL-EMUL8R is a program that runs on your Windows Mobile Device, which allows you to control any application on your mobile computing device by tilting it in your hand. The CONTROL-EMUL8R software uses the TiltCONTROL device to emulate either the stylus and the touch-pad, or the D-Pad to control any application. To control an application all you need to do is install the CONTROL-EMUL8R Plugin for the application that you want to use the TiltCONTROL to control. Then launch the application that you want to use, and plug the TiltCONTROL in. If there is no CONTROL-EMUL8R Plugin available for the application you want to use, you can either create your own using the Plugin Creator, or contact us at ECERTech.com, and we will look into creating a CONTROL-EMUL8R Plugin specifically for the application that you are using. Documentation on how to use the CONTROL-EMUL8R Software can be found in the installation directory, which by default is C:\Program Files\ECERTech\CONTROL-EMUL8R. Or documentation can be found at ECERTech.com in the downloads section of the website. --------------- Latest Features --------------- Some applications change their Window name and keep their Class name the same, such as the application eReader. Because of this the CONTROL-EMUL8R Target application monitor fails when the Window name changes, causing the Plugin targetted at the application only to be useful when the Window name is the same. To overcome this limitation, another field has been added to the Plugin properties. This field is called Ignore Window. When this field is set the Window Name of the Target application will be ignored and only the class name will be used to determine that the application is running. Restore Defaults button added to the Manual Calibration screen. The use of CONTROL-EMUL8R Plugins to specify the parameters for the CONTROL-EMUL8R has been implemented. This simplifies the setup process down to simply installing a Plugin for the application to be targeted. The Target Application monitor has been implemented. The Target Application monitor will monitor the currently used application, and if the application being used has a Plugin installed, then the CONTROL-EMUL8R will load the Plugin and start controlling the application using the TiltCONTROL. When a Plugin is loaded by the CONTROL-EMUL8R, as the result of an application is starting, a beep will be sounded to indicate the loading of the Plugin. When the application is closed it will sound the same beep, to indicate that the Plugin has been unloaded. ---------------- Latest Bug Fixes ---------------- When using the Plugin Creator program and testing a Plugin using the Start Testing button, it would conflict with the Plugin being loaded by the CONTROL-EMUL8R when the Target application was started. The CONTROL-EMUL8R is now disabled when testing a Plugin in the Plugin Creator program. The Reverse Vertical Control setting in the Plugin Creator program was not functioning correctly, causing the offset to also be inverted. This has been corrected. If a Plugin was disabled a beep would be sounded when the Plugins target application was launched. This has been corrected. The Activate Program screen was sometimes being displayed with no keyboard to enter the details. This has been corrected. When testing a Plugin from within the Plugin Creator, the demo period was timing out, even in the full version. This has now been fixed. A bug was discovered that caused certain programs to unload the Plugin while the application was running, and not reload the Plugin. This has now been corrected. When creating a new Plugin using the Plugin Creator and there was no comment entered, the Plugin did not save correctly. This was particulary noticeable if a Bluetooth connection was used. A comments field has been added to each configuration, so that a useful comment can be added about each configuration that is created. The TiltCONTROL driver will run in the background at all times unless the Disable TiltCONTROL checkbox is selected from the TiltCONTROL Settings program. The CONTROL-EMUL8R will run with the currently loaded configuration setting, at all times even if the device is reset or the CONTROL-EMUL8R program is closed. Unless the TiltCONTROL is disconnected, the TiltCONTROL is disabled or the CONTROL-EMUL8R is disabled, via the Disable CONTROL-EMUL8R checkbox on the front screen of the CONTROL-EMUL8R program. The CONTROL-EMUL8R program will automatically be launched if the Automatically start if machine reset checbox is selected. The front screen of the CONTROL-EMUL8R program has been updated to contain additional information. Latest CONTROL-EMUL8R Configuration Settings library is now installed by default. The currently loaded configuration setting name is now displayed on the front screen. Current TiltCONTROL readings are now displayed on the front screen. The emulon utility will toggle the state of the Disable CONTROL-EMUL8R checkbox. It will not launch CONTROL-EMUL8R as it previously did. A program called TiltCONTROL Settings has been added to the distribution of the TiltCONTROL. This program allows you to disable the TiltCONTROL completely, and also is an alternative way to calibrate the TiltCONTROL. Shortcuts to the installed files have been moved to Program Files/TiltCONTROL The menu has been moved to the bottom of the screen. You can alter the performance level of the TiltCONTROL for other applications, from the TiltCONTROL Settings program. ---------------- Latest Bug Fixes ---------------- When turning the device off then back on, there was an intermittent freezing of the CONTROL-EMUL8R's control for 2 to 6 seconds. This has been reduced to a few hundred milliseconds. Digital Filter length field has been added to the Configurations Setting settings. This serves the same purpose as the Samples per average, except that it is applied on a per configuration setting basis. All exported configuration settings will remain backwards compatibility. You can now view the Control Percentages aswell as the Current Tilt Angles, while setting up a Configuration Setting. Making it easy to fine tune and test the setting as you configure it. ---------------- Latest Bug Fixes ---------------- If the TiltCONTROL was turned on, then off then on too fast, the serial port would not be available for use. This has now been corrected. When the PDA is turned off and turned on again the TiltCONTROL was not turning back on. These can be activate by holding the stylus down on a text field or a button and waiting for a message to appear. A HTML version of the manual has been added to the installation. This manual can be accessed from the help menu. If the serial port is in use by another application the program will give a more descriptive message as to why the serial port may be in use. A new utlity has been included with the installation called emulon.exe. When this utility is run it will try and toggle the state of the control emulator. So if it is turned on then it will be turned off, and if it is turned off then it will be turned on. The CONTROL-EMUL8R prgram must be running and in the Manual Control emulator setup for this utility to operate correctly. This utility is intended to be mapped to a shortcut button so that the control emulators state can be toggled easily.
